About Us
About Us — A Family Business Spanning Two Generations
Chalets Lac à la Truite is a family-owned resort located in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts in the Laurentians of Quebec, one hour north of Montreal. My father and I founded the business in November 2004. Today, as sole owner and operator, I carry forward this family tradition with a small dedicated team and a clear vision: to offer the cleanest, best-maintained chalets in the region, in an exceptional natural setting on the shore of Trout Lake (Lac à la Truite).
Our story
My father and I already had nearly three decades of experience in the industry when we launched Chalets Lac à la Truite in 2004 — we had previously managed roughly sixty chalets together. My father had briefly retired, but retirement didn’t suit him; he encouraged me to start a new venture with him.
At the time I was living in Boston. I worked with Lee Graphics to build our first website and run our marketing from a distance, while my father managed on-site operations. We opened our doors with 13 units.
One team, two generations
I moved back to Quebec a few years before my parents passed away in 2019, so I could be with them and help with the business. Today I am the sole owner of Chalets Lac à la Truite. Johanne Côté, our manager, is my primary collaborator for operations and business strategy.
We currently have 4 employees. To stay efficient without growing a heavy structure, we partner with trusted local providers for several functions — maintenance, housekeeping, snow removal, and landscaping. This lets our in-house team stay focused on guest experience and the quality of every stay.
Property evolution
From 13 units to 20 — here’s how the property has grown under our stewardship.
- 2010 — duplex constructed
- 2012 — opening of the Le Soleil wellness centre, alongside two 5-bedroom chalets and one 2-bedroom unit
- I also manage additional chalets built by my brother, which round out our current offering
What makes us different
We’re not a typical short-term rental. On site, our guests have access to the Le Soleil wellness centre: indoor pool, steam room, large hot tub, and gym. Outside, a private lakefront reserved for our guests — perfect for swimming and calm navigation, as motorboats are not permitted on Lac à la Truite, making it a true haven.
We offer that rare balance between nature and accessibility: far from it all, yet close to it all. Grocery stores, fine dining, ski hills, cycling paths (including the famous P’tit Train du Nord rail trail), hiking trails, and local services are all within easy reach.

Our mission
A Quebec family business across two generations, we are open 365 days a year. We commit to maintaining the cleanest, best-maintained chalets in the region — a promise we take seriously and one reflected in our guest reviews.
We also follow an eco-responsible approach: waste reduction through refillable dispensers in every chalet, on-site composting, and recycling. Enjoying the lake and the Laurentian wilderness also means caring for their preservation.
