Rental and cancellation policy

This is our English translation of the French policy. If the two differ, the French version prevails.

Booking and deposits

A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking, payable by Visa, MasterCard or Interac e-Transfer (cash or debit if in person). The balance is paid on arrival.

The tenant (the person named on the lease) and the holder of the credit card used for the deposit must come to reception with that credit card and a driver’s licence to check in, sign the required documents, pay the balance and leave the security deposit. The chalet key is then handed over. We cannot let the tenant’s friends or family into the chalet unless these conditions are met. The balance and the security deposit may, however, be paid by someone else while the tenant is present at check-in.

The tenant leaves a security deposit on arrival, payable by Visa, MasterCard, cash or Interac (debit):

All security deposits are released (if left by credit card) or refunded by Interac e-Transfer (if left in cash or by debit), provided the conditions, rules and booking policies are fully respected (about 2 to 7 days after you leave).

Failure to follow one or more of the rules in the rental contract, or any damage or breakage to the property, automatically results in charges taken from the security deposit. If the charges exceed the security deposit, the balance is billed to the person responsible for the rental, who agrees to pay it without delay.

Check-in and check-out

Check-in: 4 pm to 6 pm (Sunday to Thursday), 4 pm to 9 pm (Friday). Check-out: 11 am.

For an early check-in or a late check-out, you must let us know at least 24 hours ahead, and extra fees apply. Unfortunately this option isn’t available from December 20 to January 7.

Plus taxes. You can enjoy our private beach free of charge from noon until your departure time. The late check-out penalty (without at least 24 hours’ notice) is deducted from your security deposit where applicable.

Visitors and number of guests

No visitors inside, outside or between the chalets at any time. No visitors on the grounds (Le Soleil centre and beach) at any time. If the number of guests stated in your rental contract is not respected, Chalets Lac à la Truite reserves the right to cancel the booking without refund and/or keep the security deposit. Tenants are not interchangeable and cannot be replaced by someone else during the stay.

Pets (dogs)

• Respect the neighbours: no barking or howling at any time.
• We accept small dogs of 20 lb or less in all our chalets.
• Puppies under 1 year old are not accepted in the chalets.
• Dogs must stay off the furniture (beds, armchairs, sofas).
• Please pick up after your dog to keep the grounds clean, even in winter.
• Unfortunately cats are no longer accepted, because so many people are allergic to them.
• Please tell us in advance if you plan to bring your pet.
• An extra fee of $15 + taxes per dog, per night applies.
• Pets are not allowed on the beach or at the pool.
• Dogs stay in your vehicle during check-in, to keep the reception grounds clean.

Smoking and age

All chalets are non-smoking. You may smoke outdoors, at the side of the chalet rather than the front, so the smoke and smell don’t bother your neighbours or get inside, winter and summer. A $250 fee is charged or deducted from your security deposit if you smoke inside a small chalet, and $500 in chalets Ežeras, 81, 95, 96, 1130, Žiema or Vasara.

All occupants must be 21 or older for chalets of 1 to 6 guests, and 25 or older for chalets Žiema, Vasara and #1130, or be accompanied by one or more parents.

Chalets Lac à la Truite is not responsible for any loss or interruption caused by a power outage, a municipal water outage, the Wi-Fi network or any other situation beyond its control or of force majeure.

The tenant

1. Allows Chalets Lac à la Truite to carry out emergency repairs and improvements needed for the rental.
2. Uses the rented premises for vacation purposes only. We regret that we cannot accept bookings whose main purpose is to party. Otherwise, Chalets Lac à la Truite reserves the right to evict the occupants without any refund and/or keep the security deposit.
3. Plays no music outdoors and makes no excessive noise outdoors or indoors during the rental.
4. Allows management to inspect the rented premises during normal hours of the stay.
5. Does not sublet or assign this lease without the landlord’s consent.
6. Returns the keys directly to reception or leaves them in the box near the entrance door. $25 + taxes per missing key is kept from the security deposit.
7. Brings and uses no private boat (rowboat, kayak, canoe, board, etc.) or motor on Lac à la Truite other than those rented from Chalets Lac à la Truite.
8. Uses and brings no barbecue other than the one provided by Chalets Lac à la Truite.

Cancellation policy

For any chalet cancellation, whether related to COVID-19 or not, the regular cancellation policy applies. Cancellations and changes (dates or chalet) must be sent to us by email.

Le Soleil wellness centre

The indoor pool, steam room, gym and spa are open unless there are government restrictions or repairs under way. Open facilities are free, but a reservation is required to use the centre. Opening hours: 8:30 am to 11:30 pm. The spa, gym and steam room are for guests 16 and older only, even with an adult.

Chalets Lac à la Truite is not responsible for items forgotten or lost in the unit or on the grounds (Le Soleil centre and/or beach). The tenant is fully responsible for collecting all personal belongings at the end of the stay.
